L’ICM accueille Paolo Boccagni

Paolo Boccagni est Profes­seur de socio­logie (Univer­sité de Trento, Italie). Ancien bour­sier du Conseil euro­péen de la recherche, il a large­ment écrit sur la migra­tion, le foyer, la diver­sité et les études sur le bien-être social. Il mène actuel­le­ment une recherche compa­ra­tive sur les expé­riences vécues au foyer, en se concen­trant plus parti­cu­liè­re­ment sur les tempo­ra­lités et les limites des deman­deurs d’asile dans les centres d’ac­cueil. Ses nouveaux inté­rêts de recherche concernent la pratique du foyer, le fonc­tion­ne­ment social de la méta­phore, les façons de faire face à l’ab­sence et à la distance et l’im­por­tance des imagi­naires et des pratiques liés à l’avenir.

Parmi ses publi­ca­tions récentes : Homing (Mobi­li­ties, 2022), Migra­tion and domestic space (co-ed, OA, Springer-Imiscoe, 2023) and the Hand­book on home and migra­tion (ed, Edward Elgar, 2023).

Paolo Boccagni is a Professor in Socio­logy (Univer­sity of Trento). A former Euro­pean Research Council grantee, he has written exten­si­vely in migra­tion, home, diver­sity and social welfare studies. He is currently doing compa­ra­tive research on the lived expe­rience of home, with a parti­cular focus on the tempo­ra­li­ties and boun­dary-making of asylum seekers in recep­tion faci­li­ties. His emer­ging research inter­ests involve the prac­tice of home, the social working of meta­phor, the ways of coping with absence and distance and the signi­fi­cance of future-related imagi­na­ries and prac­tices.
