Agrégé et docteur en histoire contem­po­raine, il a consacré sa thèse à la parti­ci­pa­tion des mathé­ma­ti­ciens à la vie poli­tique dans l’Italie risor­gi­men­tale et libé­rale, publiée sous le titre La Quada­ture du cercle. Les mathé­ma­ti­ciens et la vie parle­men­taire (1848–1913) (Éditions rue d’Ulm, 2018).

Ses travaux actuels portent sur les mobi­lités savantes – bourses de voyage – et contraintes – exils poli­tiques dans le cadre de l’ANR jeunes cher­cheurs AsilEu­ro­peXIX – dans l’Europe du XIXe siècle.

Thèmes de recherche : Histoire des sciences exactes au XIXe siècle, circu­la­tion des intel­lec­tuels et des étudiants, France et Italie, Histoire des univer­sités. Les recherches d’Antonin Durand se sont pour­sui­vies selon une double direc­tion : 1/l’étude des condi­tions de l’asile offert aux exilés poli­tiques dans l’Europe du XIXe siècle dans le cadre du programme ANR Asileu­ro­peXIX ; 2/l’étude des mobi­lités étudiantes au départ de France et d’Italie de la fin du XIXe siècle à la Seconde Guerre mondiale, en parti­cu­lier dans le cadre du programme ANR « Global Youth » sur la Cité inter­na­tio­nale étudiante de Paris.
 Antonin Durand is scien­tific coor­di­nator of the depart­ment “Global” at IC Migra­tions. HE holds an agré­ga­tion and a PhD in contem­po­rary history, he devoted his PhD to the invol­vemen of mathe­ma­ti­cians in poli­tical life during the Italian Risor­gi­mento (La Quadra­ture du cercle. Les mathé­ma­ti­ciens dans la vie parle­men­taire (1848–1913), Paris, Presses de la rue d’Ulm, 2018).

He is currently working on student mobi­lity – travel scho­lar­ships – and forced migra­tions in the 19th century – poli­tical exiles with the ANR program AsileuropeXIX.

Research topics : History of exact sciences in the 19th century, circu­la­tion of intel­lec­tuals and students, France and Italy, History of univer­si­ties. Antonin Durand’s research has conti­nued in two direc­tions : 1/​study of the condi­tions of asylum offered to poli­tical exiles in 19th century Europe within the frame­work of the ANR Asileu­ro­peXIX program ; 2/​study of student mobi­lity from France and Italy from the end of the 19th century to the Second World War, in parti­cular within the frame­work of the ANR « Global Youth » program on the Cité Inter­na­tio­nale Étudiante de Paris.
